crushing on - Comrags fall 2011 collection!!

When I worked outside the home, oh about 100 years ago....(wow, maybe about 10 years now) this awesome designer label contributed many pieces to my work wardrobe. I have this amazing navy blue skirt by Comrags that's cut on the bias (something the design duo of Judy Cornish and Joyce Gunhouse are great at) that hipsters would constantly stop me to ask where I'd bought it. It's still one of my fave pieces. I used to go into their cool Queen West shop after my 1st musketeer was born and go through the racks saying to myself I'd buy that and that and match it with that and that...lol

Anyhoot, here is their wonderful fall 2011 collection of gorgeous fabrics, awesome skirts, dresses, blouses and outerwear.

Hope you all had an amazing long weekend. It was chilly and overcast with pockets of rain here in the city but we still made the most of it hanging with family. Things are going to be (omg, I haven't had my cauldron of tea for the morning) so sorry, must get tea now or brain will.....

crushing on - Tracy Reese fall 2011 collection!!

I could have literally posted Tracy Reese's entire fall 2011 collection. Every piece has it own personality and speaks to your every mood. There are so many amazing dresses both casual and evening to chose from. I just kept adding and adding.

The grumpy prince and I saw the movie 'priest' this past weekend and really enjoyed it. On rotten tomatoes it score 15% but we went ahead and rented it anyways. I thought it was a cool premise and totally watchable, I don't know....c'est la vie.

My mum definitely marches to the beat of her own drum. During our visit yesterday, just out of nowhere she reaches into her bag saying 'Lisa, i have something for you' and takes out two roll-on bottles of deodorant from Avon, what do you do with that....lol!?

crushing on - Isabel Marant fall 2011 collection!!

At GRIMM & GRETE we are crushing on the hip pared-down Parisian look of designer Isabel Marant. She designs some of the most effortlessly hip jackets, ultra slim pants and oh so sassy mini dresses (lets just say you'd have to learn the art of picking things up without showing the goods, unless that's your thing ;)

Those boots are très chic, non?!

Work It - Maxi Dress!

My youngest musketeer turns 2 tomorrow and I absolutely love this stage. A great communicator at birth, he's starting to talk more now and he's...just so darn cute!! Nothing big planned, we are very low key with birthdays. There's something about keeping them small and simple that works for us.

New Arrival - Watermelon Tourmaline 'Kite' Necklace

I finally made our 'kite' necklace! Long back story made short, I've thought of making a kite necklace for some time now. I could imagine what it looked like but couldn't figure out the specifics of turning the sketches into a reality and I didn't want to end up on Regretsy...lol.

In walked the 'tattered necklace' which I love! My first attempt at bringing the materials together. With a big push from the grumpy prince this past weekend, I finally made it happen. I handmade the kite's body and added beautiful watermelon tourmaline gems to the frame. I wire wrapped some gems on to the chain and then added vintage sage ribbon to complete the look. I'm very happy with the design, it has a very boho chic quality to it and it looks awesome on!

Another Sneak Peek!

Here is a sneak peak of the 2nd cluster drop vintage brass flower necklace. The second look has moonstone gemstones and a longer gunmetal and twirly gold plated bar chain. Moonstone has such a magical feel and it's often associated with the moon because of its iridescence. I love how the moonstone gives this necklace a softer, more boho chic romantic vibe.

Both necklaces will be available in the shop sometime next week.

I am having a TERRIFIC Sunday, I'll tell you all about it tomorrow. The heat is starting to get a bit crazy in the tower and the city, so there is very little movement happening right now.

McQueen Fall 2011!!

Wow, Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen Fall 2011 created an absolutely stunning collection. Such beautiful fabrics, and the beautiful simple colours of: white, lilac, gray and black and with tailoring that is spot on! I had a hard time narrowing down my faves to just a few pics; so I chose some of the lighter colours. However, there's a black dress that I just had to slip in.

I will have to return to this collection in the fall for the all black edition...lol

Wow....was that exhilarating or what!?

Well, with that said, hope your weekend is phenomenal!!! I am planning a trip downtown to purchase some new supplies for my fall collection, but we'll see how that goes. I really just want to lay on a blanket in the park and take in the days.

Yesterday, afternoon I went out with the kids and stopped by one of my supply shops in the area. I was horrified to see that she is now only selling her own designs. The gemstone wall reduced to nothing but a meager selection and the chains selection which was once so vast is almost invisible. I was shocked, the atmosphere in the shop was so heavy, it was so desolate. Our area on the whole is changing, a lot of small business owners have not survived and it's really sad.

We've recently lost a great family restaurant 'Lick's', followed by 'Blockbuster' and most recently 'HMV'. I'm
scared and concerned about the future landscape of this area.

The Killing Moon

crushing on - a girl!

Psst..don't tell the grumpy prince that I've got a crush on Kate Lanphear, Style Director of Elle USA.

I came across her pictures this past weekend while cruising the net and was immediately smitten. Her style is sophisticated with an edge; she's the closest thing I've ever had to a muse. I am so inspired by her style, I love the leather, studs, black, white and gray colour palette. Her layering is seemingly effortless and the different textures she brings to an outfit is done to perfection.

Now I know some of you may already have Kate on your radar and you're wondering 'where has she been living, Kate's been around for a while?' Well, to answer your question, I've been locked up in a tower, remember!!!...lol. My crush is so bad right now that I've joined a blog dedicated to Kate.
