crushing on - fab vintage inspired dresses!

These vintage inspired dresses from one of my hearted etsy shops sohomode are so peachy.  Each dress comes with her own unique personality and a dash of a 50's vibe.  I love the fabrics and colours and the downright coolness of these designs.

Here are a few samples...

Can you believe we are into August already, where's the time going?  I swear it feels like time is chasing after something at warp speed or maybe I'm just getting (not going to say it).

Well I hope you have a timeless Tuesday.

Work It - Bohemian Edgy

I love the hard and edgy yet soft and feminine vibe of this outfit.  The hard edge of the leather skirt and bag soften with the suede shoes and the soft drapery cowlneck tee.  Rock this look with our 'hard rock' double wrap bracelet to edge over your outfit GRIMM & GRETE style.

Clockwise:

1. cowlneck tee
2. 'hard-rock' bead & chain double wrap bracelet
3. 3.1 Philip Lim leather skirt
4. Chie Mihara shoes
5. 5 pocket vigga bag

I hope Wednesday wraps you in her arms.  Have a great day!

Summer Dresses

Fleur Wood is an Australian designer of such beautiful dresses. The dresses are soft and romantic with hints of another era.

I love dresses but I loathe shopping for them; it's such a pain in the *#$.  When I finally find a dress I really like its usually too sheer and who wants to wear a slip in the summer; no thanks! So in the end I return to my summer staple of skirts & t-shirts.

Who knows, maybe things will be different this summer with visions of these gorgeous dresses in my head.

Have a maniacal Monday!

Sneak Preview!!

A month ago I blogged about some gorgeous rose quartz and crystal quartz gemstones I picked up and was super excited about.  After finishing some necklace designs on my 'to design list', I was finally able to get my hands on these mystical gemstones.

I love their pure colour, smooth texture and organic shapes and I really wanted to explore some different design elements with these gemstones.

I'm really thrilled with the 1st necklace in this 'rock hard' collection. It's mixed with both rose quartz and quartz crystal because some of these stones were really moody and didn't want to be part of the design.

It literally took me days of trial and error twisting and turning trying to see which stones would cooperate. So the stone selection is very random and each stone hangs in its own manner.  This allows each gemstone to stand out in an interesting way, with their own unique shape, size and colour.  I think this design element really offers a super cool overall edgy effect.

The 2nd necklace I designed isn't photographed as yet;  maybe this weekend. I finished it and put it away, which is something I have a habit of doing, then I'll find them and think "hey, shouldn't you be in the shop?" (but that's another blog post).

The 3rd necklace is a rose quartz and onyx choker.  I absolutely love paring pink with black.  I think it really sums up the kind of chick I am (did she just call herself a 'chick'?). There is definitely a statement appeal to this necklace and because it sits so close to the neck it gives a rocking impact.  It looks amazing on!

The 4th necklace, I started this weekend so it's still rough.  It reminds me of 'angel wings'.  The best part of this design was getting to use the vintage french steel cut beads and I think it really adds a fresh element to the design of this necklace.

hopefully, I'll be able to get some of these super cool pieces into the shop soon.

take it easy!

fashion friday - Pink Tartan

Regrets I have a few, one of them leads into this fashion friday's post.

A few years ago, I was out shopping with a friend at Holt Renfrew (our luxury designer brand store). We came across a gorgeous red winter coat (in my SIZE on SALE!!) by Pink Tartan.  It looked super hot on me, super HOT! But we had just started shopping and not wanting to commit, I put it back on the rack.

Never went back for it! so regrets I have a few!  oh well c'est la vie!

Pink Tartan is a Canadian designer label created by Kimberley Newport-Mimran.  I love her Fall 2011 Collection.  I love the mixing of structured military jackets with feminine skirts, the evening dresses with the striking leather belts, the army hat with the bulky scarves; it's all so hot!!

I would wear this entire outfit in a heartbeat!!!

Wishing all you mum's or soon-to-be mum's a very motherly weekend!!

still crushing on clutches

Hope everyone had a great weekend. It was very quiet in the tower. We did some spring cleaning in the musketeers hideout, which we can now walk into without stepping on one of them, so exciting and lots of fun, NOT, lol!!

So I am still crushing on clutches ever since I saw Claire Vivier's beautiful blue clutch (see here).  Then the other day I spotted this little baby while daydreaming on Louis Vuitton's Official site.  I go there every once and while to pretend that I can actually afford any of their gorgeous items without having to put one of the musketeers on the black market, lol.  Anyway! take a look at this, the Monogram Empreinte leather, the Pétillante.

love this colour, come on!!

Want to daydream some more?

I also spotted this little number in the Globe and Mail (one of our national news papers). A lot more wallet friendly and very cute.

love it in the white, super fresh!

This clutch is made by designer Ela Kowalewska, a former handbag designer for Roots.  Her line of clutches is called Ela.  The M.I.L.C.K. is a leather clutch that as its name spells out is perfect for money, identification, lipstick, cellphone and key. How cheeky is that! More here.
