New Arrival - Comet Necklace

Here is the second necklace from the 'Rock Hard' collection.  I just added it to my shop.

A mix of crystal quartz and rose quartz gemstones plummet down a mix of white gold plated and sterling silver plated chain to create this modern drop necklace.  I love the mixing of gemstones and metals in this necklace, it's so cool and clean.

We are having a sweltering day in the tower today. It's supposed to get up to 42 degrees in the city.  As some of you may have guessed my tower is not equipped with AIR CON!!!, but we are surviving so far :)

Hope everyone is having a cool wednesday.

A Treasury for a GRIMM & GRETE Girl!!

My wonderful etsy friend Liza of LizasWhimsicalArt put together this cool treasury that includes two GRIMM & GRETE pieces and the items that coordinate with them are so rocking!  It's amazing to see Liza's talents as a stylist, just an amazing combination of items that work smashingly together.  So honored to be included in this truly 'tres chic and magnific' treasury.

Thanks Liza!!

Things that go with your earrings and necklace:) Mix and match for any time of year. I love black and combining an elegant blouse with something a bit on the wild side. Still classy with gumption. Rock on!

I've been so sick for the last few days, it's been crazy!  But I must say the best part of not having an appetite has definitely been the weight lost ;)   I'm starting to feel a lot better, so I guess it's BACK TO WORK!!!

Sneak Preview!!

A month ago I blogged about some gorgeous rose quartz and crystal quartz gemstones I picked up and was super excited about.  After finishing some necklace designs on my 'to design list', I was finally able to get my hands on these mystical gemstones.

I love their pure colour, smooth texture and organic shapes and I really wanted to explore some different design elements with these gemstones.

I'm really thrilled with the 1st necklace in this 'rock hard' collection. It's mixed with both rose quartz and quartz crystal because some of these stones were really moody and didn't want to be part of the design.

It literally took me days of trial and error twisting and turning trying to see which stones would cooperate. So the stone selection is very random and each stone hangs in its own manner.  This allows each gemstone to stand out in an interesting way, with their own unique shape, size and colour.  I think this design element really offers a super cool overall edgy effect.

The 2nd necklace I designed isn't photographed as yet;  maybe this weekend. I finished it and put it away, which is something I have a habit of doing, then I'll find them and think "hey, shouldn't you be in the shop?" (but that's another blog post).

The 3rd necklace is a rose quartz and onyx choker.  I absolutely love paring pink with black.  I think it really sums up the kind of chick I am (did she just call herself a 'chick'?). There is definitely a statement appeal to this necklace and because it sits so close to the neck it gives a rocking impact.  It looks amazing on!

The 4th necklace, I started this weekend so it's still rough.  It reminds me of 'angel wings'.  The best part of this design was getting to use the vintage french steel cut beads and I think it really adds a fresh element to the design of this necklace.

hopefully, I'll be able to get some of these super cool pieces into the shop soon.

take it easy!

Mainstream Punk

Once the 3 musketeers were banished to sleepy-land  friday night, the grumpy prince and I settled into the night; reading and cruising tv channels. We stumbled on a movie called SLC Punk (1999).

SLC Punk lead into a discussion on the influence of music on teen fashion/identity and that there seems to be no more politics in music - everything looks to be mainstream these days.  Our discussion was mainly that since the death of grunge, kids all appear to look and dress the same.

We walked by my old high school the other day and all the kids looked like clones.  Only one kid stood out as his look was sort of modern mod.  There seems to be no music genre that's influencing the kids and how they dress anymore (imagine your daughter roaming the streets dressed like Lady Gaga!).  The grumpy prince thinks this might be a sign of kids knowing who they are and what they stand for and not needing to wear it on their sleeves anymore.

As a pre-teen (sorry tween), I loved punk rockers, loved the fashion and some of the music (could never get into GBH) while the grumpy prince loved\loves 70's rock.

So this might be your only chance chics and dudes if you missed out on the punk movement of the late 70's early 80's; what's old is new again, so now you can be 'mainstream punk'....now where did I put my studded belt?

Some day I'll share some of my punk keepsakes...lol!  What was your scene and are you still representing?

Hope your weekend went well and Monday is treating you kindly.
