TWO - Modern Bohemian Dresses + Caftans

I love the ease of these dresses + caftans from the company TWO.
Perfect for the summer months ahead.

PROUDRACE - s/s 2012

I know, I know, I know spring is in the air and here I am blogging about
my 'fave' colour black. I can't help it. I do try to incorporate colour into
my wardrobe but black just makes me feel 'happy'.
*side note: I am trying to put more colour in the shop!!

Any hoot, when I saw the first picture above for PROUDRACE's
(a Manila indie fashion house) spring/summer 2012 campaign
I immediately thought of Paul Simonon bassist for
The Clash...can we say super hottie!!  It has a very modern punk vibe
that I think is really awesome.

We have snow in the city today which is nice for a change.
Hope you are all having a 'working for the clampdown' Wednesday

work it!! - urban bohemian

One of the new skirt lengths for fall is the calf length, which if done right can be über sexy.  I love the textures in this skirt and thought I'd keep the top simple but with an interesting shape. The shoes and bag...love!
To complete the look I added a GRIMM & GRETE necklace which has a new shape for fall and a great pop of colour.

Hope you have a wanderlust Wednesday!

Duality of Emma Watson

The current issues (there are two) of Harper's Bazaar UK, August 2011 features Emma Watson (from the famed Harry Potter Series) shot by photographer Alexi Lubomirski as naughty or nice girl.  I thought that pretty much sums up the GRIMM & GRETE girl, she's a little bit nice and a whole lot naughty......or maybe that's just me!

Both covers

from redcarpet -  fashion awards

Here's a mix of pics from both issues:

Work It - Maxi Dress!

The maxi crazy is going to continue into the fall, so for all of you currently rockin this look I thought I'd help you with a little GRIMM & GRETE spice.  Inspired by Moroccan glass lanterns these earrings offer great exotic charm to any outfit.

the goods:

My youngest musketeer turns 2 tomorrow and I absolutely love this stage.  A great communicator at birth, he's starting to talk more now and he's...just so darn cute!! Nothing big planned, we are very low key with birthdays. There's something about keeping them small and simple that works for us.

Hope you have a wise Wednesday.

crushing on - fab vintage inspired dresses!

These vintage inspired dresses from one of my hearted etsy shops sohomode are so peachy.  Each dress comes with her own unique personality and a dash of a 50's vibe.  I love the fabrics and colours and the downright coolness of these designs.

Here are a few samples...

Can you believe we are into August already, where's the time going?  I swear it feels like time is chasing after something at warp speed or maybe I'm just getting (not going to say it).

Well I hope you have a timeless Tuesday.

New Arrival - Watermelon Tourmaline 'Kite' Necklace

I finally made our 'kite' necklace!  Long back story made short, I've thought of making a kite necklace for some time now.  I could imagine what it looked like but couldn't figure out the specifics of turning the sketches into a reality and I didn't want to end up on Regretsy...lol.

In walked the 'tattered necklace' which I love! My first attempt at bringing the materials together. With a big push from the grumpy prince this past weekend, I finally made it happen.  I handmade the kite's body and added beautiful watermelon tourmaline gems to the frame. I wire wrapped some gems on to the chain and then added vintage sage ribbon to complete the look.  I'm very happy with the design, it has a very boho chic quality to it and it looks awesome on!

Hope you enjoy it!

Go fly a kite or buy one here.

Hope Thursday tickles you with affection.  The Summer X games starts today, musketeers what musketeers?....lol

New Arrival - 'rock crystal flowers'

The 'rock crystal flower' set offers a rocking bohemian edge with a hint of romantic charm.  The brass flower caps are a beautiful golden colour that plays off the shiny transparency of the rock crystal to create a really dreamy vibe.  These 'rock crystal flowers' are the perfect accessories to vamp up any style.

Well, if you've been in the shop lately you'll see quite a few changes.  Over the last few weeks I've been searching for the right look in photography (still a work in progress) to create the edgy yet laid back vibe of some of my jewellery pieces.  Trying to express or create the mood of the girl/woman who is a dark romantic at heart with a laid back bohemian sense of style has been an interesting challenge; but I think I'm closing in on her.

Hope Thursday rocked you gently.

Turquoise Necklace 'Shards'

Beautiful natural 'shards' of turquoise make up this gorgeous chunky double gunmetal necklace.  I love the shape of this necklace and it's a perfect piece for framing your face and adding some edgy drama to your next outfit!

Stop by the shop to check it out here.

Hope Sunday is treating you well.  The city of Toronto is in a humidex alert we are currently sitting at a humidex of 35 degrees.  Holy hot Batman!!

Late night the grumpy prince and I watched 'True Grit'; awesome movie! The Coen brother's did an amazing job of staying true to that era.  We both really enjoyed it and strongly recommend you see it.

McQueen Fall 2011!!

Wow, Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen Fall 2011 created an absolutely stunning collection.  Such beautiful fabrics, and the beautiful simple colours of: white, lilac, gray and black and with tailoring that is spot on!  I had a hard time narrowing down my faves to just a few pics; so I chose some of the lighter colours.  However, there's a black dress that I just had to slip in.

I will have to return to this collection in the fall for the all black edition...lol

Wow....was that exhilarating or what!?

Well, with that said, hope your weekend is phenomenal!!!  I am planning a trip downtown to purchase some new supplies for my fall collection, but we'll see how that goes.  I really just want to lay on a blanket in the park and take in the days.

Yesterday, afternoon I went out with the kids and stopped by one of my supply shops in the area.  I was horrified to see that she is now only selling her own designs.  The gemstone wall reduced to nothing but a meager selection and the chains selection which was once so vast is almost invisible.  I was shocked, the atmosphere in the shop was so heavy, it was so desolate.  Our area on the whole is changing, a lot of small business owners have not survived and it's really sad.

We've recently lost a great family restaurant 'Lick's', followed by 'Blockbuster' and most recently 'HMV'.  I'm
scared and concerned about the future landscape of this area.

Work It!!

Rock a casual outfit with a little help from GRIMM & GRETE!!

We have gray skies outside the tower window today, very gray.  So it looks like it's going to be a day of movies and monopoly :)

Super Cool Knits!!!

My etsy friend and the artist behind the Etsy shop Wuglyees creates some of the coolest eco-friendly knits I've ever seen. She designs stylish and fashionable hats, scarves, slippers and the coolest jewelry.  I love the colour combinations and I think it's super cool how she integrates beads and metal findings into her jewellery collection.

Wuglyees (I call her by her shop name, lol, but her name is Debbie) also has a great blog where she shares her talent for the written word through her poetry.  She creates a poem everyday to accompany her blog post, how cool is that!  I love the way she gets up, close and personal with her readers with a natural honesty and heart warming stories. Visit her wonderful blog here.

Hope everyone had a fulfilling weekend.

Our first summer weekend in the city was a major flop, the weather was just plain yucky! For me there is no middle ground; it either rains or it's sunny.  I don't operate well under cloudy skies, it's just too heavy for me.

The grumpy prince and I had a movie night on Saturday. No, we didn't leave the tower we ordered 'pay per view' and watched "The Adjustment Bureau".  I thought the concept was amazing, I really enjoyed it. The notion of chance, fate, and man's free will played out through a romance; come on....how fantastic is that?!!!

The eldest boy musketeer was invited to a bowling birthday party on Sunday.  The grumpy prince took our girl musketeer and they had their first papa and daughter bowling time together.  I stayed home and worked on some new shop items, while the youngest boy musketeer napped.

Wow, someone took a talking pill this morning, it must be due to the sunny skies...lol ;)

Hope Monday is kind to you.

crushing on - big, bold and fab!!!

Robin Basile and John Pape are the husband and wife dynamic duo behind basile and pape.  Together they design some of the most awesome and 'in your face' jewellery I've ever seen.

I had such a hard time selecting a few pieces for this entry, all of their jewellery is so fabulous!
