tune in thursday - Gemma Ray/ Rescue Me

When we are not listening to french radio or cfny 102, we listen

to cbc radio 94.3 (usually during dinner). So there I was the other night

setting the dinner table when this little tune immediately caught my

attention. Love her voice, the melody and the notion of someone

rescuing me...from what I'm not sure ;)

I've really been digging this song 'tongue tied' by grouplove.

Let's just say when it's on the radio I'm hopping and twirling

around like a kid...lol. 

I think they played in Toronto last night at wrongbar. Did anyone

tune in thursday - M83 Midnight City

The gp has been really digging this song lately.

M83 has some really cool tunes. I like their

song 'don't save us from the flames'. 

I hope you're all keeping your heads above water. This

week is going by way too fast. I've been busy in the

'studio' working on building up inventory for the shop.

I have a solid idea in my head of what I'd like to 

have in the shop, but I'm constantly battling with myself

to keep the G&G look cohesive. 

Lately, I've been getting convos from girls

wanting me to make a necklace or earrings to 

match a particular item in the shop. I do try to make items that

can be paired up, but it's not always that

easy to translate a pair of earrings into a necklace

and still maintain the G&G vibe. With that said

I've been trying to match earrings to necklaces 

whenever I can, hope this helps.

Muchmusic airs a show called video on trial that has a group

of comedians who basically cut-up videos in the

most hysterical way...lots of laughs. We had it on in the

background a few nights ago and every once in a 

while we'd both break out laughing. 

One of the videos under review was by Nada Surf

(not really familiar with this band) 

and the song was pretty cool. So here it is...look up.

and I saw them on SNL about a month ago. Now a month later we both

really like this song.

tune in thursday - Best Coast/Our Deal

I spent the greater part of this past weekend adding
pins to my pinterest boards and thinking about creating a tumblr blog.
 I was on a tumblr blog when I first
heard this song and it stuck with me.
So there I was late Saturday night going through my history to
find the blog that was playing this cool song.
I love the 50's vibe of this tune; it's very lets fall in love romantic.

The band Best Coast is a trio indie rock band from LA.
Their debut album is titled crazy for you, 
and actress Drew Barrymore directed this
awesome video for their single our deal.

I'll have to add this to my long list of itunes for purchase
once I get my ipod updated. I have a classic ipod, generation
100 years ago.  I spent some money about three years
ago trying to bring it back to life, it worked for a while
but I think it's done for good now.
Are they even still called ipods these days...lol.

Monday Blahs...

                                               
                                    Today's been very slow for me in a can't seem to focus on anything
                                       for too long kind of way.  So I'm going to have to type fast...

                                       My weekend was lots of fun albeit sleep deprived.  I (we) stayed
                                   up til 2am Friday night watching Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part 1
                                       and truth be told it sucked...sorry grumpy prince!!  I blame the
                                                                 director Bill Condon.
                                    Saturday night was another 2am sleep and so was last night.

                                     Watched the Grammys; it had some cool moments. Where's
                                                all the talent in the music world today!?

I was watching an old episode of fashion television FT and they were 

showing a video for Tom Fords spring/summer woman's collection 2011 and 

this song was playing in the background.  Super cool song and 

Karen Elson's outfit in the video is super HOT!!

I'm currently working on GRIMM & GRETE's Holiday Collection 2011- Silver & Gold.

Hopefully by the end of this week I'll have a sneak peek available.  I'm starting to feel a bit

under the weather, hopefully it will blow over.

tune in thursday - METRIC!!

Metric is a family fave and I can say everyone has a fave tune by them except for baby 'musketeer' who just bops to everything. Love emily's voice and this bands all around vibe.

Love emily's fashion, it's very understated glam, and the feather boa in this video is to die for...lol!!


I am working on some new pieces for the shop.  Hopefully, I'll be able to add some things over the next few days.

tune in thursday - fast romantics & vampire diaries (vd)

So the vampire diaries (vd) is going down some really interesting paths this 3rd season and I can't wait to see where they lead.  After the ending of last weeks 'the hybrid', I think tonight's episode 'the end of the affair' is going to be crazy!!!  Love that title....oh I feel a treasury comin' on...lol.


Any hoot, here is the super cool Canadian band the fast romantics whose tune "cool kids" was featured on vampire diaries during season 2.

With another full year of french immersion ahead of us we are back to french radio.  Heard one of my fave songs yesterday and thought i'd share.

Wow, what a start to the NFL season last night!!  If the Saints had pulled off a last minute tie to take the game into overtime everyone around the world would have heard me screaming from the tower.  Totally intense game and Green Bay your message has been received!!!

Coming Soon! & the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs

This super cool 'cracked quartz' collection will be hitting the shop soon.  Cool dyed polished quartz gems in: pale pink, rose and aqua, hang as pendants and earrings in this fab new collection.  It will be a limited edition and there is only the matching pair of earrings for the pale pink and aqua pendants, so if you like them together you'll have to move fast!

The necklaces are created with vintage brass chain and close with a gun metal lobster clasp (a cool edge to some of our necklaces that I love).  The earrings have dangling Swarovski crystals or Czech fire polished beads and hang from 24k gold ear wires.

Here's a super cool group with a super cool song.  I thought the grumpy prince read somewhere that this song was written for the actor Jack Black,  please don't quote me on that, I think.....lol!!!!!

Hope the week has been treating you well so far!  My eldest musketeer returned from up north on Tuesday and all is right in the castle (oops, would love to live in a castle..lol) tower again.  If you are looking for a cute girly movie I would suggest "Jumping the Broom" directed by Salim Akil. The grumpy prince and I saw it the other night and both really enjoyed it. I cried and laughed and he rolled his eyes a lot!!

Tune in Thursday - Norah Jones

My girl musketeer and I have been singing this song for a while now and we both think the video is super cool!

So today is my little ones Bday and we had plans for the beach, but because it rained all day and evening yesterday I think we'll wait for the sand to dry out and warm up.  As I mentioned before bday's have been reduced to immediate family only.  Long story short, the last major bday party was for my daughter and we went out all day then came home to make her fave requested meal while everyone hung out.  

By the time dinner was served the grumpy prince and I were exhausted, everyone was starving and silly me had a glass of wine (not a major drinker, so it went straight to my head on an empty stomach).  I couldn't stop laughing and instead of singing happy birthday I sang a Smiths song (which is what I do when I'm tipsy) with my head on the table. I swear I think I made a pass at my father in law, who kept saying "but she only had one glass of wine"!

Tune in Thursdays - Mazzy Star

I found some pre-musketeers shoes (translation: shoes with heels) and I wore them around the tower for a bit remembering what it felt like to be a lot taller and a little bit sexier (that's right folks, mama of three feeling sexy!)

Anyhoo, these pre-musketeer shoes also remind me of the band Mazzy Star (maybe a different place and time).  This CD got a lot of play when the grumpy prince and I were first dating, so much so that even he got into them; well a little. Shhh, secret sharing time, this was my break-up/heartache go to band.  Hope Sandavol's voice would put me under a melancholy trance that was utterly sublime.

The city of Toronto is now under an official 'extreme heat alert'.  Which means it's crazy hot outside (45+ degrees) and if you don't have to be out Health Officials advise you to stay in.  So we are standing/sitting still in the tower today.

Tune in Thursday - AWOLNATION

The grumpy prince and I have been bugging out to the song 'sail' by awolnation (there's an interesting story behind the name of the band).  I think this song is even starting to grow on the musketeers.  I haven't heard anything else by this band but they kind of remind me of NIN (nine inch nails), but less raw and industrial sounding.

Tune in Thursdays - Magneta Lane

Truth be told the last concert I saw was Magneta Lane and it was only because it was part of a Toronto street festival.  The city of Toronto used to host these amazing themed street festivals at major downtown/uptown intersections in the city. Our intersection hosted some indie acts and kids amusement rides.  I only had 2 musketeers at the time and my girl musketeer was barely walking.

On our way home we just happened to stumble into the main stage and saw them playing.  I couldn't believe my luck; so there we were in the middle of the street with me singing and dancing my butt off.  It was crazy cool! Their latest cd is 'Gambling with God' and if you are into girl bands that rock, you will not be disappointed.

This is my fave song by them, hope you enjoy!
