Prom & The Naked And Famous

Saw the movie 'Prom' last night (what?!), ok! what? who wants to take this outside!!?...lol.  Thought it was sweet, the grumpy prince is still not talking to me.  Anyhoot, really liked this song from the movie and it's not on the soundtrack, but my I.T. guy (grumpy prince) was able to find it for me, even though he's still not talking to me...lol.

We don't really have all the hype of a 'prom' we have what's called a 'formal' and there's certainly not all this crazy hoopla surrounding it and it's only for graduating students.  It's not even something that came up with me and my boyfriend at the time, that's just how understated the whole thing is.  That's why I'm always intrigued by the whole 'prom' thing and like I said it was a sweet movie.

Here it is hope you enjoy

Why don't you share your prom experience with me, was it the night of your teenage life?

Hope you have a telltale Thursday!!!

Coming Soon! & the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs

This super cool 'cracked quartz' collection will be hitting the shop soon.  Cool dyed polished quartz gems in: pale pink, rose and aqua, hang as pendants and earrings in this fab new collection.  It will be a limited edition and there is only the matching pair of earrings for the pale pink and aqua pendants, so if you like them together you'll have to move fast!

The necklaces are created with vintage brass chain and close with a gun metal lobster clasp (a cool edge to some of our necklaces that I love).  The earrings have dangling Swarovski crystals or Czech fire polished beads and hang from 24k gold ear wires.

Introducing the " Cracked Quartz" Collection

Here's a super cool group with a super cool song.  I thought the grumpy prince read somewhere that this song was written for the actor Jack Black,  please don't quote me on that, I think.....lol!!!!!

Hope the week has been treating you well so far!  My eldest musketeer returned from up north on Tuesday and all is right in the castle (oops, would love to live in a castle..lol) tower again.  If you are looking for a cute girly movie I would suggest "Jumping the Broom" directed by Salim Akil. The grumpy prince and I saw it the other night and both really enjoyed it. I cried and laughed and he rolled his eyes a lot!!

Have a toe tapping Thursday.

Tune in Thursday - Norah Jones

My girl musketeer and I have been singing this song for a while now and we both think the video is super cool!

So today is my little ones Bday and we had plans for the beach, but because it rained all day and evening yesterday I think we'll wait for the sand to dry out and warm up.  As I mentioned before bday's have been reduced to immediate family only.  Long story short, the last major bday party was for my daughter and we went out all day then came home to make her fave requested meal while everyone hung out.

By the time dinner was served the grumpy prince and I were exhausted, everyone was starving and silly me had a glass of wine (not a major drinker, so it went straight to my head on an empty stomach).  I couldn't stop laughing and instead of singing happy birthday I sang a Smiths song (which is what I do when I'm tipsy) with my head on the table. I swear I think I made a pass at my father in law, who kept saying "but she only had one glass of wine"!

Hope you have a terrific two's Thursday.

Tune in Thursday - AWOLNATION

The grumpy prince and I have been bugging out to the song 'sail' by awolnation (there's an interesting story behind the name of the band).  I think this song is even starting to grow on the musketeers.  I haven't heard anything else by this band but they kind of remind me of NIN (nine inch nails), but less raw and industrial sounding.

Hope you enjoy.

Have a toe tapping Thursday!

Tune in Thursdays - Magneta Lane

Truth be told the last concert I saw was Magneta Lane and it was only because it was part of a Toronto street festival.  The city of Toronto used to host these amazing themed street festivals at major downtown/uptown intersections in the city. Our intersection hosted some indie acts and kids amusement rides.  I only had 2 musketeers at the time and my girl musketeer was barely walking.

On our way home we just happened to stumble into the main stage and saw them playing.  I couldn't believe my luck; so there we were in the middle of the street with me singing and dancing my butt off.  It was crazy cool! Their latest cd is 'Gambling with God' and if you are into girl bands that rock, you will not be disappointed.

This is my fave song by them, hope you enjoy!

Have a rocking Thursday!

tune in thursdays - Morcheeba

When Morcheeba first hit the music scene in 1996 they had what was termed a "trip hop" sound to their music.  A very smooth, jazzy, cool beat.  Over the years this trio (the Godfrey brothers: Paul & Ross and lead vocalist Skye Edwards) have gone through many changes, with both sound and lead vocals.

Skye left the band or was asked to leave in 2003 because of 'musical and personal differences'.  The original trio with Edwards reformed in 2010 with a new 'album' and an extensive tour.

I really love the tune 'trigger hippie' from their first album. Skye's vocal's are so beautiful, her voice invites you to come in, chill out and enjoy the ride.

It's a rainy day in the city and I'm in heaven....I love the rain.
Have a Thunderous Thursday.

Lisa

tune in thursdays - The Pretenders

Remember a month or so back, I blogged about the grumpy prince's attempt at 'spring cleaning'?  Well between you and me, it was a disaster.  A lot of furniture was moved around, large dust bunnies set-free and a lot of naughty language was uttered; and in the end not a lot looked much different.  Any hoot, my pretenders greatest hits CD is missing and I think all that clucking around disguised as 'cleaning' misplaced it.  I can't find it anywhere...any! where!

It's a great compilation of tunes.  Great for dinner parties, rainy Saturday afternoons (when I'm not in Forks) and quiet nights in.  I think Chrissie Hynde is one of the coolest ladies in music and her voice is awesome.

So until I find my cd here is one of my fave Prentenders songs.

Have a trashy thursday ;)
