Saw the movie 'Prom' last night (what?!), ok! what? who wants to take this outside!!?...lol. Thought it was sweet, the grumpy prince is still not talking to me. Anyhoot, really liked this song from the movie and it's not on the soundtrack, but my I.T. guy (grumpy prince) was able to find it for me, even though he's still not talking to me...lol.
We don't really have all the hype of a 'prom' we have what's called a 'formal' and there's certainly not all this crazy hoopla surrounding it and it's only for graduating students. It's not even something that came up with me and my boyfriend at the time, that's just how understated the whole thing is. That's why I'm always intrigued by the whole 'prom' thing and like I said it was a sweet movie.

I'll start this comment by saying that if I had a daughter she would NOT be going to a prom...EVER!!
ReplyDeleteI saw the promos for this movie yesterday. I don't even want to see this one!...Don't get me wrong, What I remember about my prom was that picking out and buying my dress was great. The music at the prom was great. And having all of my friends around was great...But what wasn't great was the 'game-playing' about getting a date. And the RIGHT date!...The pressure to lose my virginity that night to someone I hardly knew, except as a date, was very strong. (But I with-stood that pressure and went home early and without giving in to the pressure.)...And I remember the fights, the sadness, the disappointments. WOW! I would not do it again!! Like my friends do with their kids now is what I would do...at graduation time I'd invite the friends of my kids over and throw them a dress up party myself! Much less drama!!...That's just me. To each his own! :-)
Wow,wow,wow!!! I couldn't imagine that ridiculous amount of pressure, that's complete madness! It saddens me to read, "the fights, the sadness, the disappointment" it's something I can't even get my head around. I have seen movies about the pressure of losing ones virginity and it being the main goal of many but just thought that was hollywood. They don't even address that in this movie. I'm completely gobsmacked!! I do like the idea of a small group celebrating at someone's home, that sounds very cool. I really had no idea, again it wasn't even a blip on my radar, I looked at it like it was just a school dance. Thanks for sharing Wugs, sending you hugs xxxxx ♥ Lisa
